Who are we?

The Sill - National Landscape Discovery Centre

Located next to Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland National Park, It was named after the famous Whin Sill geological feature nearby.

The Sill aims to transform how people of all ages understand and explore our landscapes, history and heritage.

The iconic building incorporates a modern Youth Hostel, has a walk-on green roof to a viewing platform overlooking Hadrian’s Wall and the surrounding countryside, and houses a landscape exhibition, learning centre, a local food café and a shop that specialises in local crafts and produce.
